Everyone worries and gets upset from time to time. It’s a normal part of life. But what happens when that anxiety or anger overpowers you and you can’t calm down? Being able to calm yourself in stressful situations is easier said than done but not impossible. From politicians to CEOs to firefighters to doctors to jet pilots, the ability to stay calm in a crisis can mean the difference between success and failure or even life and death. Medical studies have shown that our brains work best when it’s in a moderate state that is not too stressed or not too calm either. So how do successful people stay cool under pressure?
Here are a bunch of tips to learn this technique.
Breathing – Proper breathing is the most effective technique for reducing anger and anxiety quickly. When you are tensed or angry, start taking long and deep breaths. This will help you to calm down. For example, you can take deep breaths and then exhale slowly. After a few minutes, you will notice a reduction in your stress and anxiety.
Remain Positive - Having a negative attitude about the problems you are facing will numb your brain and make you overwhelmed. Instead, look at the problem as a challenge and opportunity to learn something new. And remember that it’s not possible to solve all problems even if you rave and rant. You can only give it your best and leave the rest to a higher power.
