Sooner or later everyone will grow old and helpless. It's nature's design. As time goes by you will discover that your once energetic parents and even grandparents will have difficulties doing even the simplest of tasks. That's when they will need help from other people in the family. No one should neglect their elderly. It is a moral and ethical duty. Even if you are unable to personally help or afford the expensive treatment you can make several basic arrangements to keep them safe and healthy for as long as possible.
Here are a bunch of methods to take care of the elderly.
Visit Often - If you staying elsewhere make it a habit to visit regularly. It's extremely important to visit as it gives them the psychological strength to cope with their situation. They need such social interaction to get the assurance that they are safe, healthy, and have someone for their security. When you visit ensure you look everywhere for any issues that need to be addressed like changing light bulbs, batteries in torches, slippery areas, removing dangerous and unwanted objects, cleanliness issues, safety issues, mail, food supplies, medicines, etc.
Lighting - Have ample lighting in the house. Keep the lights on in the bathroom and other areas at all times. It does not matter if the electricity bill goes a bit higher. Adequate lighting will prevent them from hitting objects, searching for the light switch, or falling in the darkness.
