Social media has become part of everyone's daily lives today. People eternally scroll through Twitter for the latest opinions, check Instagram for photos, click Facebook for updates, and so on. Naturally, social media is one of the important places to be if you are an author who is trying to establish your brand, promote your books, and connect with readers. In this article, we shall cover a few important points you need to know on how to choose which platform to use, build your followers, and use social media to market your books.
Which platform to use? – In a crowded market a key factor of book marketing is not trying to do everything and be everywhere. Instead, you should focus on just one or two effective social media channels. This is important because social media offers a platform for different types of audiences. So how do you pick the best social platforms for authors? For this, first, consider your target audience. Where are they most likely to hang out on the Internet? Is it Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc? Also, numbers aren’t everything. You should also think about which platforms would best serve your author brand and how you like to connect with people online.
Start by looking at writers and authors similar to you. Which platforms do they use, what kind of content do they post, and what is their engagement method? Be sure to follow them if you haven’t already. This will teach you on what they are doing and may also help you increase your own follower count.
Now let us look at the three top social media sites where authors and readers are available.
