Why do many believe in pseudoscience?
A convenient lie?
Lazy thinking?
Lack of self-confidence?
Fear of the unknown future?
Afraid to face death?
Reliance on miracles?
Any or a mixture of all these?
Agreed man or woman is selfish and does not adhere to objective thinking when it doesn't suit them. But, does that mean they must blindly follow the advice of those dabbling in Vaastu, Astrology, Palmistry, Numerology, and many others to lose their hard-earned money or peace of mind when the expected outcome failed to come about? Those who adopt the esoteric sciences as their profession do it as they feel 'there is always a sucker born every minute'! Besides, they do not have the inclination for hard work to study engineering, medicine or any other useful subjects for the society. They are like the notorious roadside snake oil salesmen. What they give or suggest is nothing but a placebo for which they exploit their victims to the fullest.
