Jamal Humaid Al Falasi, Director of Cruise Tourism at Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, talks about the rise of cruise tourism in Dubai and India’s growing contribution to it.
Cruise tourism is a fast-emerging segment in Dubai’s tourism landscape. Tell us about the recently-held cruise tourism roadshow in India.
This was the fourth time that we hosted the cruise tourism roadshow in India, where we covered different cities, such as Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. We still haven’t covered all parts of India but there are plans to cover other cities the next time that we’re here. We decided to host this roadshow in India as it’s Dubai’s largest source market.
What did the roadshow aim to achieve in India?
Given Dubai’s proximity with India, we see a positive future for cruise tourism. We will do more of these roadshows in India to understand the market better and help us know what kind of audience will be more interested in taking up cruise holidays.
