Worth The Trip!

Alexandria, Egypt

Once home to the Lighthouse of Alexandria, a Wonder of the Ancient World, this city on the Mediterranean coast exudes an old-world charm and romantic grandeur. Stroll along the waterfront promenade of Corniche to the iconic 400-metre-long Stanley Bridge, constructed over the sea. Or, visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a re-imagining of the ancient Greek library in the city. Best time to visit: spring.

Mount Emei, China

One of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains in China, Mount Emei has been a site of religious importance to many practising Buddhists, and includes a Statue of Samantabhadra – patron of the Lotus Sutra – at its summit. Choose to hike up paved paths, take a bus tour or opt for a cable car ride, before indulging in some Sichuan delights at the foot of the mountain. Best time to visit: spring or autumn.

Paro, Bhutan

Journey to this high-altitude and picturesque valley town in the Buddhist kingdom of Bhutan! Hike up the country’s most iconic landmark, Taktsang Palphug (Tiger’s Nest), which clings to the rising cliffs above the forested valley below, or travel onwards to Gasa Tsachu to take a dip in its popular medicinal hot springs to relax.
