Voges broke the world record for the highest number of runs without a dismissal having previously scored 269* and 106* against the West Indies, for a total of 614, beating the previous record set by Sachin...
It is not easy to start a Test career at the age of 35, as most of the cricketers are almost ready to call of his playing career at that age and cricket requires fresh legs and a zeal to excel at the highest level. However, when we talk about Adam Voges, nothing is impossible for this man. The Australian batsman recently retired from international cricket and that too after starting his Test match career at an age where playing five day cricket is not the easiest thing to do. Voges’ last assignment was the Sheffield Shield match representing Western Australia against Tasmania in November. Before that, he played the first two Tests against South Africa – which Australia lost – but couldn’t do much with the willow. In need of some much needed change, Peter Handscomb took Voges’ spot and scored a half century to seal his place. It also didn’t help that Voges suffered a concussion during that Sheffield Shield game. However, he had a rocking start to his Test career. Voges became the oldest player to score a century on his Test debut when he made an unbeaten 130 against West Indies two years ago, aged 35. The right-handed batsman scored 1,485 runs at an average of 61.87 in 20 Test matches, ranking him second on the all-time list behind Bradman’s incredible average of 99.94.
