Gu You Ming Man On A Mission
One hour away before he would be whisked off as a VIP judge for Manhunt Singapore Finals 2017, we waited excitedly for a chat with China-born super “Male-God” Gu You Ming at One Farrer Hotel and Spa. A model, actor and personal trainer, the 34-year-old is also well known for his tightly defined six pack abs – a frequent feature across the many interviews he has done.

Standing at a towering 187cm and blessed with a boyish, chiselled charm, it was simply impossible to ignore his presence the moment Gu stepped into the room. After a friendly hand shake and warm smile, the down-to-earth good looker talked about the celebrities he used to be a personal trainer to (Faye Wong!), how he really doesn’t count his calories, and his foray into fashion photography.

Could you share what you’ve been busy with lately?

I am currently involved in a production of a period drama in China. My role is of a villain, and I’ll be working together with artistes such as Ethan Juan and Yang Mi.

What is your daily exercise regime like?

I wake up daily at 6.30am and spend two to three hours in the gym. I do a mix of cardio exercises like running and weights training. However, I prefer more flexible regimes like free weights, as we cannot be too bulky for the camera. In the past, I was actually the personal trainer for Faye Wong and Zhou Xun. In fact, they were the ones who encouraged and got me into the entertainment industry.
