Whey Protein Power And You

Very often we take whey protein after our training to recover faster after workout or to supplement it during the day to hit our protein intake. However, have you ever noticed some unwanted effects 15 to 30 minutes after drinking your whey protein shake? I’m talking about bloating, feeling gassy, diarrhea or constipation. These are very common issues that people face after consuming whey but should not actually be ignored! Your body is trying to tell you something!

By far the most common symptom I hear people complain about is bloating. Others include stomach aches and cramps, gurgling or rumbling sounds in your belly, gas, or even loose stools or diarrhea. Some even end up throwing up. Most people think these effects are normal, but it actually means you aren’t able to properly digest the protein which causes excessive gas. You may be thinking, “What’s the big deal if all I feel is a little bloated?” The reality is that over time, the repeated consumption of foods you are sensitive to results in chronic low level inflammation, which could damage the intestinal wall and severely impact your diet and quality of life.

Causes

Very often, these symptoms boil down to these 4 reasons: lactose intolerance, excessive sucralose consumption, allergic or sensitivity to certain ingredients, or insufficient intake of dietary fiber.
