Education - Best Among The Rest

Southern India comprises Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala and constitutes a major chunk of industrial and educational activity in the country. The region has an advantage with well-connected roads, ports and ample human resources. It is also an established industrial base. While Karnataka is the richest southern state, Tamil Nadu has diverse manufacturing units.

On the education front, Chennai is a high-draw city with prestigious colleges. On the other hand, Bengaluru is a student magnet with a vibrant student life. In the Telugu states, the density of colleges is pretty high and Visakhapatnam is another hub on the lines of Indore, Kolhapur, Bhubaneshwar and Guwahati.

Business studies cover all business areas and organisational activities to accomplish the desired goals and objectives of an organisation. It comprises planning, organising, staffing, leading, directing and controlling an organisation, big or small. This apart, business management involves making profit for shareholders, creating products for customers at a reasonable cost and providing rewarding opportunities for staff. Managers come with individual skills set and they are used accordingly within the firm.

While management studies remain highly sought after especially in leading B schools, nearly 3,60,000 MBA students are estimated to graduate from nearly 4000 B schools annually in our country. However, according to a 2018 report, there is a raising concern about 61% being unemployable due to skills gap and less work experience.

In this issue, we are covering IIM Kozhikode, St Joseph’s Institute of Management, Bengaluru, Gitam Hyderabad, SCMS Cochin and Presidency School of Management, Hyderabad. All chosen schools maintain high levels of quality while setting new standards in management education.
