ALL schools and universities could be closed down next month to stop the mutant Covid-19 strain spreading.

The epidemic will probably continue to grow “unless primary schools, secondary schools and universities are closed” until February, experts say.

Downing Street has insisted that keeping schools open is a “national priority”. But ministers are now considering shutting them for the whole of January.
