Chocolate
Despite what our films portray, chocolate is usually much further up the cravings list than lime pickles. Of course, it’s possible that expectant mums use their pregnancy as an excuse to indulge their sweet tooth! If you’re feeling drained and down, chocolate can cheer you up by releasing those feel-good hormones.
Ice-cream or ice
Something cold and sweet in hot weather when you’re lugging around that extra weight, the craving for ice-cream makes perfect sense. And just plain ice? It’s probably the crunchy texture that’s the powerful draw.
Fruit
It could be down to a lack of vitamin C but this could also be a subconscious health message, as every mum wants to have a healthy baby and eating fruit is universally considered beneficial.
