WHAT IS AESTHETIC PHOTOGRAPHY AND HOW TO USE IT?
Asian Photography|October 2021
You’ve probably heard the term “aesthetic photography” bandied about by influencers or other artists. But what does it all mean? At the end of the day, we all want to capture beautiful photographs and have an impact on our viewers in some way. The majority of photography is created to evoke emotion. Photos should make people think, feel, and even question, whether via beauty or thinking. This post will teach you all you need to know about aesthetic photography, or how to make attractive images while maintaining your unique style.
WHAT IS AESTHETIC PHOTOGRAPHY AND HOW TO USE IT?

What is Aesthetic Photography?

Aesthetic is described in the dictionary as “concern with beauty or the enjoyment of beauty”. There are some aspects you may add to your images to make them more attractive to the human eye in order to produce beautiful pictures.

Aesthetic photography is concerned with the creation and analysis of compositional aspects such as tone, colour, and contrast in order to create an appealing or aesthetically acceptable image. It is, in essence, the production of beauty via photography.

Why Aesthetics Matter in Photography?

Not all pictures are visually appealing. It doesn’t matter what your photographic style or subject matter is; it won’t always be attractive. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be visually appealing. Aesthetics in photography, on the other hand, is all about beauty.

Now, beauty may be divisive, since, as the old adage goes, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. So, while we may disagree on what beauty is, there are a few fundamental ideas that most photographers agree on when producing an attractive appearance in photography. This is why beautiful photography is essential. It keeps the spectator wanting more, gazing at the image, and enjoying it. It captures and maintains their attention.

A landscape photographer, for example, photographing a mountain at sunrise with soothing hues of pinks and oranges with a small fog drifting over the hills over lush green mountains would capture the spectator and maybe earn the landscape photographer a photo sale.
