International Photographers Go to New Depths as Amazing Aquatic Images Flood in for the 2017 Underwater Photographer of the Year Award…
WHILE THERE'S NO shortage of fascinating subjects for photographers on land, dive below the surface of the earth's waters and there's a new world of weird, wacky and wonderful creatures, as well as fantastic views, to focus your lens on. From dancing octopuses to dangerous orcas, long-lost shipwrecks and sharp-toothed sharks, the underwater world never fails to amaze and astound. the winning images from the latest underwater Photographer of the Year (uPY) competition are the fruits of thousands of talented photographers exploring beneath the waves, so you can keep your feet on dry land and enjoy the results.
This year's uPY competition had submissions from sub-aquatic photographers from 67 different countries. more than 4,500 images were submitted across ten categories, including Wide angle, up and coming, Behaviour, compact cameras, Portrait, Wrecks and macro along with the additional Wide angle, compact and macro categories for images taken in British waters.
