Ayurveda is a multifaceted and multidimensional healthcare system that is ancient in its form and scientific in applicability. The two main principles of Ayurveda are, firstly to maintain the health of the healthy person and secondly to cure the disease of an unhealthy person. In present era, westernization and modernization have led mankind towards a mechanized life without giving importance to the lifestyle, dietary practices, sleep patterns, social relationships, ethics, peaceful mental state and spiritual realizations.

Dept. of Kayachikitsa - The word kaya refers to body and chikitsa refers to treatment. Everything related to the body is dealt here in terms of preventive and curative treatments. This, in modern terms can be considered to be the dept. of General medicine. Ayurveda gives many guidelines regarding daily regimens, seasonal regimens, night regimens etc., to sustain a good life.
