Teaching is a thankless profession, if you look at it as a profession. But if you see it as a purpose in life, then teachers are the architects of the future.
Recently, I met my teacher who taught me math in the twelfth standard about 40 years ago. We had a very good time together as we shared a lot of wonderful memories. In the course of the conversation, I recalled how he used to make us practice the math problems umpteen number of times, even after getting it right. As though this was not enough, he used to make us answer a lot of question papers from the past and also insisted that we correct each others' paper, and I never used to like this.
With a lovely smile on his face, he looked at me and said, “If you had done it well in your first few attempts, why will I ask you to repeat it?

Dancer, choreographer and teacher of Bharatanatyam, Smt. Revathi Ramachandran's repertoire has taken her to stages PAN India, Europe and America. She is the only exponent of 'Sudha Nrittam', an ancient temple dance revived by her Guru Mangudi Dorairaja Iyer. She has been the recipient of many awards and accolades including the prestigious Kalaimamani award.Apart from her cultural achievements, this master's degree holder in Economics, has also captained the Tamil Nadu Women's' Basketball team in early 80s.
