With a new team behind him, Sam Bennett is on course to take his first Tour de France stage win and the yellow jersey in 2020, according to mentor and multiple green jersey winner Sean Kelly.
Bennett rode for Kelly’s An Post-Chain Reaction team earlier in his career and the Irish great knows his younger compatriot well.
The Deceuninck-Quick-Step rider is expected to return to the Tour de France this year after a four-year absence. He’s won stages in the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta an España, but never at the sport’s biggest race.
“The Tour is a little bit different because it is always that bit harder. Everybody is more aggressive in the finals of the Tour de France stages,” Kelly added.
