Demi Vollering put to bed any worries SD Worx would be unable to win big races after the retirement of Anna van der Breggen, by taking a convincing victory at last week’s AJ Bell Women’s Tour.
The 24-year-old built her victory on a dominant performance in stage three’s 10-mile time trial around the Warwickshire town of Atherstone, eventually winning the overall 1.02 ahead of second-placed Frenchwoman Juliette Labous (DSM).
“It’s cool!” Vollering told CW when asked about her first WorldTour stage race victory. “But I wouldn’t be here without the team, they did a great job in the last few days and that’s important in stage races.”
