Women's Tour of Scotland

National and domestic teams could be set to profit at the Women’s Tour of Scotland as many of the bigger names prioritise higher-profile events.

A clash with the European Championships, and being sandwiched between Women’s WorldTour races in London and Sweden has reduced the number of big names riding, with some bigger teams giving lesser-known riders a chance.

“Being able to do a 2.1 stage race over here is absolutely brilliant,” Rebecca Durrell (Brother UK-Tifosi p/b OnForm) told Cycling Weekly. “The domestic scene is getting harder each year, but when you go to the Continent to race it’s very different, so to bring that level over here for our domestic teams to bridge that gap is positive.”
