He ended up with 593 runs that included one century and six fifties. Rahul’s consistency and shot-making...
56 matches have already been played in the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which in turn marked the end of the league stage. Four teams have qualified for the IPL 2019 playoffs and there are just four matches left now. It’s been a fascinating ride up till now blended with some good cricketing action. Several players turned up the heat and performed to their abilities across the eight teams. But there are a few that have exceeded expectations and ruled the tournament with solid individual acts that ultimately was the positive factor for their respective franchises. Be it, bowlers or batsmen, there were some breathtaking shows in the group stage, where each side played 14 games each. Here we pick the IPL 2019 XI of the season based on the terrific performances in the group stage.
DAVID WARNER
The Sunrisers Hyderabad player may have left the IPL after playing 12 games for his side, but he did the damage beforehand already. Warner was unstoppable and amassed 692 runs that included a ton and seven fifties. His tally looks enough to hand him the Orange Cap this season, which will be his third in IPL history.
JONNY BAIRSTOW
The Englishman, like Warner, was a dream act for SRH. His consistency and ability to make the most out at the top paid dividends for the side. Bairstow left SRH camp early after just 11 matches in relation to international duty for England. But scoring 445 runs that included a century in his debut season sees him in this list as a pure batsman.
