The first release of watchOS launched with the original Apple Watch. It was based on iOS 8.2 and featured nine watch faces and 20 stock apps. On 19th May of the same year, version 1.0.1 brought a few new performance boosts, security improvements and support for new Emojis.
WatchOS 2.0: 21st September 2015
Based on iOS 9.0, version 2.0 added time-lapse and photo faces, new colors for customization, and Nightstand Mode. Other improvements include new Siri features, improvements to Maps and Music, and more. Several minor updates took us to watchOS 2.2.2 in July 2016.
