It’S Been A While Since The Asiapop Comicon (APCC) Dominated Manila And We’Re Still Trying To Cure Our Hangover To No Avail. Alas, It Was Our Biggest Geek Out The Whole Year, Where Our Inner Pop Culture Fanatics Were Unleashed.
If you ask us, the whole three day affair at the SMX Convention Center was a blast! We went home with bags filled with loots and merch—our wallets lighter, but our hearts full and happy.
But if we had to pinpoint the highlights, with heavy hearts, then we shall. Here are our ultimate APCC favorites, our best cosplay picks, and all the fresh tidbits and announcements we picked up from the biggest fan event of the year.
ALL THEM HOT GUESTS
It felt like summer just came back and raged through the APCC with the huge and hot guests that Universal Events & Entertainment brought to Manila.
Osric Chau, who plays Kevin Tran in sci-fiTV series Supernatural made sure he’s there all three days of the con, bringing his sweet boyish smile and the news that he’s shooting a film here in Manila with a local production and cast.
Who wouldn’t be hyped if you get a close encounter with the great actor who plays Cyclops in X-Men Apocalypse and the protagonist Wade Watts in Steven Spielberg’s latest sci-fi master piece Ready Player One? Tye Sheridan gave everyone a heart attack—the good kind—at the APCC, and we’d love to see more of him here... anywhere! Well, guess what— he reveals he’s already shooting for X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which is releasing in February next year.
And straight from Marvel Television came the Iron Fist himself, Finn Jones, and his good friend Mike Colter who plays the titular character in the Netflix series Luke Cage. Two Marvel heroes on one stage? Awesome! Almost as awesome as that time we saw Iron Fist finally make a cameo on Luke Cage season 2.
