A great hair stylist once told me that you can have a good hair day every day if you know what to do with your mane and never neglect it. I had, at that time, paid scant attention to his words but as time went by and my tresses began to lose their natural sheen and silky texture, I remembered his advice and tried to understand where I had made a mistake with my haircare routine. It turns out that with time and stress, I had sidelined this single most important aspect of my personality. It began slowly with an occasional skipping of the conditioner, then not bothering with the kind of shampoo I was using. After that came the incessant hair colouring—sometimes just highlights but mostly global hues. I couldn’t recall the last time I had massaged oil on my tresses or gotten a deep conditioning treatment. No wonder then that my hair was rebelling and it was time to tame them. To achieve this, I followed the 10 commandments that many hair experts have imparted to me over the years, and found that they really work. Read on to know what you too may have been missing in your routine and incorporate them now.
