Singer and song writer LUNGI NAIDOO is determined tomake a success of her career with the release of her third album.
With little success in the way of garnering mass appeal from the release of her first two albums, singer and songwriter Lungi Naidoo finally got her big break in 2016, thanks to her third musical offering, Black Diamond, and a role in Akin Omotoso’s film Vaya.
The album title came about as a result of her having overcome challenges in her personal life and music career, and regaining her self confidence and belief in her talent.
“This album was a Godsend for me. It came at a time when I had just recovered from my victim mentality after I had sworn, two years earlier, that I wanted nothing to do with the music industry ever again. But I managed to dust myself out of my misery, and made contact with people I knew would help me resurrect my career,” she says.
Then Lungi contacted popular house DJ, Black Coffee. “We had tried working together before but it never happened because my management at the time wouldn’t grant me permission. This time Coffee agreed to work with me, and that’s how my song Love is on Fire was created.”
“My life has changed since working with Black Coffee. He might not be aware that what he did for me was a life changing experience but I will forever cherish it. It took being in studio with him to regain my confidence in my singing abilities, and when he gave me free reign to write the lyrics to the song, I knew I was on my way up. I now get bookings, was able to secure a record deal with Universal Music and also release my come back album,” says Lungi that she never thought all this would have happened. “At some point in my life I was told by industry peers that no producer would want to work with me and that I couldn’t sing.
