Women in their 60s are now feeling younger than ever, with the age of 60 being dubbed the new 40.
One in ten pensioners say they now have more energy than their children, and are attributing their sharp minds to playing sport and solving puzzles.
But casting the knitting needles aside and staying active between the sheets could also help to keep us young and vibrant.
Vanessa Feltz, who is 60 this week, insists she is having her wildest sex in years now that her children have left home, giving her and fiancé Ben Ofoedu the freedom to do it ‘whenever and wherever’ they want.
So, with sex so often thought of as a young person’s game, Woman asks, are you ever too old for hanky panky?
‘I’VE ALWAYS HAD A HIGH SEX DRIVE’
Caroline, 62, lives in Cardiff with her partner Dean, 63. Sitting down with a coffee, I made eye contact with the handsome man across the room. He stood out among the other fuddy-duddies. And while a bereavement group may not sound like the perfect place to pick up a partner, a cheeky wink let me know he was up for a bit of fun.
When my husband of 35 years passed away from pancreatic cancer in December 2015, of course I was devastated. We’d been together since I was 18 and had five children.
But I knew he would want me to move on and be happy. It took time, but soonI felt ready to be intimate again.
I’ve always had a high sex drive. My first child was born in 1985 and my husband and I were back in bed within a week. After five children I had loose skin, stretch marks and saggier boobs, but I accepted them. We introduced role play and I’d dress up as a naughty nurse, having sex a few times a week.
So when I became a widow at 55, I was determined not to bury my sex life.
