While we do believe that SARS- CoV-2 originated in animals and was passed to humans, it is not believed that dogs can become infected.At the time of going to press, it has been reported that one dog in Hong Kong was found to be a &lsquo;mild positive&rsquo; when tested for the disease. However, it must be emphasised that the dog was not ill and was carrying the virus in its nose, similarly to how a table or money can test positive. Thus, it is important to practice the same good hygiene around your dog that you always would. Those that need to self-isolate may need to get inventive if unable to exercise their dog. This will likely mean lots of food, puzzles, toys and games.
