Holly's BIG U-TURN
WOMAN - UK|January 31, 2022
Hotly tipped to be leaving her high-profile morning TV gig, what made her stay?

Holly's BIG U-TURN

They say there’s no smoke without fire and over the last 18 months, rumours have been rife that ITV golden girl Holly Willoughby was getting ready to quit her high-profile This Morning role.

From stories of fallouts and toxic feuds to suggestions that Phillip was unhappy with a magazine shoot which saw Holly taking centre stage – the rumour mill has been alive that all’s not well between the co-stars.

Added to that, Phillip Schofield’s reported feuds with presenters Amanda Holden and Ruth Langsford are thought to have understandably caused tension. Holly, nevertheless, has always been keen to quash speculation while quietly feathering her nest alongside her This Morning presenting duties.

The 40-year-old has pursued her interests in wellness, setting up her lifestyle brand Wylde Moon, and has been more present for her three children – Harry, 12, Belle, 10, and Chester, seven.

But then, contrary to the speculation, the star confirmed she had signed a bumper two-year deal with ITV to remain on This Morning. So having readied herself for new challenges, what prompted Holly to keep her seat on telly’s hottest sofa?

Money matters

ITV bosses were keen to hang on to Holly because her on-screen chemistry with Phil and their occasional lapses in professionalism have made TV gold over the years and continue to be a ratings hit. As much as they are keen to try new talent, the stylish and relatable Holly is very popular with its core audience and bosses have been willing to match her requests for big money. A source said, ‘She got the deal she wanted: match Phillip or walk.’
