Meditation MADE EASY

With groaning to-do lists and mounting bills, many of us have good reason to panic. In fact, over half of Brits say that the ongoing financial crisis has left them feeling less in control of their mental health*.

So it’s crucial we find ways to lessen the impact of life’s tricky times – and meditation is a useful tool that helps to quieten the mind and bring clarity when things feel chaotic. Research shows that regular sessions of mindful meditation can ease tension and stress, and reduce the risk of developing anxiety and depression.

Keen to get the benefits but unsure where to start? The good news is there’s no right or wrong way to meditate. ‘Meditation is simply about recognising a busy mind and training it to return to the present moment, by listening to your breath and all the sensations the body experiences as you breathe,’ says holistic health and wellbeing expert Rophin Vianney**.

YOUR MINDFUL MOMENTS

Find a quiet, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed. Morning is a great time to meditate – try setting your alarm clock 15 minutes earlier so you can squeeze in a peaceful session that sets your mood for the day ahead. Here, Rophin shares three mini-meditations to help you de-stress.
