In the heart of The Shard, London’s glittering new media district, work is underway on the studio that will soon be home to Piers Morgan’s much-anticipated new channel, TalkTV.
But before stepping up to the mic, it seems the man of the moment can’t resist a parting shot at his old employer, ITV.
In a move that has been dubbed ‘Morgan’s revenge’, the 56-year-old broadcaster has poached some of the top talent from Good Morning Britain who worked alongside him during his time on the show.
Those who got the call include GMB’s director, Erron Gordon, and Vivek Sharma, who has worked across the ITV daytime schedule for eight years.
And now whispers around the media village are suggesting that Piers now has his eyes on his ex-TV partner-in-crime, Susanna Reid, and that it’s just a matter of time before a big-money proposal is offered to her.
Together, their on-screen chemistry and off-the-cuff style made TV gold and, during almost six years on Good Morning Britain, their ratings grew and grew. So perhaps now is the time for Piers to recapture the magic.
A well-placed source told Woman, ‘Piers is keen to get Susanna on his show because she’s a great broadcaster and also a great colleague. They get on like a house on fire, and such satisfying working relationships are rare.’
