For years, I’ve heard about Golden Door Health Retreat and Spa across the ditch. Finally, I got to go.

1 The retreat

Golden Door is Australia’s largest health retreat and if Champagne was allowed, corks would be popping because not only did it recently win Best Australian Wellness Retreat 2018 at the World Spa Awards, but it’s also celebrating its 25th birthday. Originally on the Gold Coast, it’s been in the Hunter Valley, two and a half hours out of Sydney, for the past 15 years. Kangaroos with their little joeys hop around the property, which has a central restaurant and lounging space, and one, two and three-bedroom accommodation options spread around the hilltop. It’s a great place to come to on your own, but there are plenty of girlfriend groups, sisters, mum-and-daughter combos and couples as well.
