Never has there been a showbiz court case quite like Johnny Depp suing his ex-wife Amber Heard for defamation. The actor last week successfully managed to prove in a US court that by declaring herself a domestic violence victim in a newspaper opinion piece, Amber had defamed him.
Subsequently, last week he was awarded $14.43 million for his troubles while she successfully countersued him for $2.7 million in damages after his lawyer said her claims were a hoax.
The case, which featured appalling allegations and toxic testimony from both sides, was televised, dissected on social media and generally divided watercooler opinions around the world. Insiders agree that verdict aside, there were no winners in the battle of Depp v Heard.
Here, Woman's Day looks at what's next for the warring former couple.
JOHNNY DEPP
After losing a defamation case he launched against UK newspaper The Sun for calling him a "wife-beater" in 2020, most predicted Johnny would not prevail over Amber when he took his grievances Stateside.
But a jury of seven sided with the Pirates Of The Caribbean star, who said Amber's 2018 article for The Washington Post had a detrimental effect on his reputation.
Johnny, 58, fled Virginia while the jury deliberated, and played a string of gigs with friend Jeff Beck in England. He also partied with British model and ex-girlfriend Kate Moss, 48, who appeared as a witness for him during the case.
