When Jennifer Lawrence first hooked up with her much-older lover Darren Aronofsky, loved ones were worried about the 21-year age gap. She’d already been hurt by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and they feared the 26-year-old star of The Hunger Games was setting herself up for another fall.

But Woman’s Day can reveal Jennifer and 48-year-old film director Darren are more in love than ever – and about to prove their doubters wrong by announcing their engagement!

“They’ve been together a year and from very early on both of them knew it was the real deal. They’ve quietly agreed they’ll wed but make the news official on Jennifer’s birthday on August 15,” a close friend discloses. “Darren is whisking her away somewhere secret and very romantic to celebrate and they just can’t wait to share their excitement! Jen’s giddy about the prospect of sporting a big rock on her finger.”
