With a tell-all interview, a documentary, a podcast appearance and a so-called unauthorised biography about their bid for freedom, the royal family could be forgiven for assuming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have nothing left in their arsenal of accusations against them. Instead, the palace has been blindsided by news that Prince Harry has spent the past year secretly writing a no-holds-barred memoir “as not the prince I was born, but the man I’ve become” – and has earned a $27 million advance from Penguin Random House for his efforts, according to the New York Post.
HOLDING OUT
Palace staff were last week scrambling to get their heads around the news, though they’ll have plenty of time to speculate just how damaging Harry’s story will be, given it won’t hit shelves until late 2022.
“It seems he’s deliberately holding out until after the Queen’s platinum jubilee, and perhaps aligning it with the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death – either way, it’s sure to overshadow each event in the most toxic way possible,” says a “frankly, disgusted” palace insider.
Harry, 36, was forced to confirm his plans after the newspaper broke the news late last week.
