It’s been eight long years since the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s triumphant first tour as a young family to New Zealand, when the nation collectively fell in love with our future king and queen.
Prince George undertook his first-ever official royal engagement in Wellington, the toothy eight-month-old grabbing toys from Kiwi tots in a playdate organised by Plunket at Government House.
And now Woman’s Day can exclusively reveal that the Cambridges are in the late stages of planning a tour Down Under that will eclipse 2014’s 10-day trip combining Aotearoa and Australia.
“This time, they’d like to spend even more time in New Zealand, given they have a couple more kids to wrangle now, which makes it harder to pack a schedule,” reports a palace insider. “It goes without saying that Kate and William would never leave the children back in London, so Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will all be along for the ride.
“The current thinking is early next year, once New Zealand’s borders are open and Omicron has died down, with a visit across the Tasman also incorporated into the itinerary.”
Wills, 39, and Kate, 40, had to put plans of an early 2020 trip on ice due to the pandemic, our source explains.
