Pregnancy is the process of changes that take place in a woman's organs and tissues because of a developing foetus. Wearing the right clothes during pregnancy is very important as clothes can help reduce discomfort and make the overall experience of being pregnant easier to tolerate.
Every day 67,385 babies are born in India, that's one sixth of the world's child births. It means every day approximately 60 thousand pregnant women in India are suffering from their basic pregnancy problems without any proper solution to it.
An exploratory study stated that globally, 3,03,000 women died from complications which arose during pregnancy and childbirth in 2015. Most of these deaths took place in developing countries especially in Africa, South Asia and India.
The choice of right clothing during pregnancy is very important because clothes reduce the amount of discomfort a pregnant women has to bear and make the overall experience of being pregnant easier.
Pregnancy places a woman's body in a continuous physiological and psychological adaptive state. It was, therefore, anticipated that these changes during pregnancy would influence women's clothing preferences and wearing behaviours.
The researchers in India generally focus on medical clothing and their solution of the following patients:
• Pressure garments for burns patients
• Lymphedema
• Varicose veins
• Protective clothing for skin cancer
• Hip fractures
But the field of research which lacks in India is pregnancy and its problems.
