Design Debate is a constructive debate on Tradition vs Technology within the realm of design that strives to be interactive and knowledgeled. The back-to-back Udaipur and Coimbatore Editions of this endeavour held on 13th and 20th January 2023 respectively were exactly that! It gave a lot of food for thought, inviting interest not only from the panellists but also from the audience.
UNFORGETTABLE UDAIPUR
The engaging evening kicked off with a warm opening address by Indrajeet Saoji, Director, ITP Media India. After an engaging presentation by Nivedita Vibhaw, Head of Marketing and Business Development, Fundermax India, the Curator and Moderator Ar. Sunil Satyanarayan Ladha, Principal Architect, Workspace Design Studio, took to the stage. He set the context for the evening, invigorating the audience with the words, “Architecture is frozen music, as Goethe has once said. Music is nothing but sound. And today, we, representatives of the entire architectural fraternity of Udaipur, are going to make that sound and talk about architecture!”
Debuting this time was a brand-new format for the event where the Doyens and Next-Gen panellists presented their work in pre-timed slides. Each slide ran for 30 seconds on screen, resulting in a fastpaced, engaging and often times funny presentation by each panellist. The dynamic Next-Gen panel comprised Abbas Kikali, Urban Designer and Architect, Kikali Designs; Deepak Khandelwal, Architect, Praaktya Studio; Jai Soni, Architect and CGI Artist, Jai Soni Designs; Shirish Sanadhya, Principal Architect, Sheetal Construction; Umang Jain, Architect, Umang Architecture & Build Management Consultancy, and Yougal Tak, Manager, Urban at ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia.
