For Kolhapur-based Ar. Satish Patil and Associates, there was a challenge and a treat to creating a project in the sports category. It was the artificial turf cricket ground constructed at Ichalkaranji in Kolhapur. It was the first time they designed round shaped one in Maharashtra's Kolhapur district.
Since the ground got built on farmland with black cotton soil, the big challenge was laying the foundation and avoiding any issues during the rainy season. "Our civil team provided for the raft foundation by digging out basic soil strata up to 1.2 M and reinforcing it as per RCC design & drawing by anchoring vertical anchor post from the ground level beam," Ar. Patil mentions.
