For many, unwinding entails a drink at a pub, a quiet evening with coffee, or even reading a book tucked into a cosy corner at home. We at TURBOCHARGED love to unwind the not-so-normal way. For us, it is all about exploring our love for all things automotive and doing stuff around it, be it a long drive, or simply learning a new skill, like the art of sliding.
Flat track is a specialised form of dirt track racing. Its origins emanate from the time when riders raced around oval tracks made of wooden planks. The slippery surface wasn't the easiest to race on, and often falls led to serious injuries. This led to organisers swapping the wooden planks for dirt tracks whose flat surfaces lent the name 'flat track'.
The sixties and seventies were the golden years in which the sport of flat track flourished. The sport is slowly making a comeback and is being accepted all over the world, even in India.
Like most motorcycle sports, flat track too helps hone your riding skills and helps make you more confident behind the handlebar. To experience and learn about the sport, the TURBOCHARGED team headed to Autologue Ranch. They have partnered with Royal Enfield and come up with Slide School, a place to learn the fine art of flat track. The Slide School session is conducted every weekend and is open to all. We went over to the school one such evening.
