ONE OF the most recognisable sports cars of all time, the Aston Martin DB5, celebrated its 60th birthday in September 2023.

Then Aston’s latest model in 1963, the DB5 went on to become an icon of British culture, design and innovation, establishing itself as one of the most desirable global luxury brands. 

At the 2023 Goodwood Revival, the DB5 sat alongside the latest addition to the DB bloodline, the Super Tourer DB12.

In 1963 Aston Martin was riding a wave of popularity, with the all-new DB4 selling strongly, following its debut in 1958.

Despite its success, strong competition from luxury sports-car makers across the globe, meant something new was needed to keep the Aston brand on top.

This came in the form of the more powerful Aston Martin DB5, which was unveiled at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, introducing a host of design, technical and equipment changes over its predecessor.
