TWO CARS, used by the men who had a huge influence on the British Empire for decades: Winston Churchill and Lord Mountbatten were sold by Iconic Auctioneers, at the 2024 Practical Classics and Restoration Sale.
WHEELS OF POWER

The Mountbatten 1975 Rover P6 started life as a Hampshire Police car before being used as the official staff car of Earl Mountbatten of Burma, then by the Chairman of a County Council. Found abandoned in a piggery, it was restored and put back in its Police colours. It sold for A$25,000.

In May 1975 this V8-engined, manual gearbox P6 3500S became a high-speed patrol car of the Hampshire Police in Winchester. At motorway speeds with a full boot, the front of the car lifted, so Rover developed a front ‘splitter’ curing the problem and becoming a standard fitment.
