Mumbai – Faced with the high cost of living in Mumbai, homemaker Hemangini Shetty chose an unconventional path to improve her family’s financial situation—investing in the stock market. Although she initially faced losses and a lack of understanding, she persevered and became a successful investor. This incredible turnaround began when she crossed paths with Professor Manish Jain. Today, we tell the story of how an ordinary investor learned the essence of stock investing and achieved financial growth.
A Turning Point Amid Challenges
Hemangini Shetty, originally from Chandigarh and now living in Mumbai, is a full-time homemaker whose main focus has always been caring for her young children and managing household chores. Her husband works for a multinational company, but his income is limited. In an expensive city like Mumbai, the financial pressure on the family prompted Hemangini to seek ways to generate additional income. Since she couldn’t take up a job outside the home, Hemangini decided to try her hand at stock market investing in hopes of changing her family’s fortune.
Initially, the complexity and volatility of the market caused her to incur frequent losses. Though the amounts she invested were small, the losses weighed heavily on her. Despite this, Hemangini refused to give up. She resolved to learn and improve her investment skills to make up for her lack of experience.
A Chance Encounter That Changed Everything
In 2022, Hemangini came across information about the upcoming “Mumbai Financial Leaders Summit” on the internet. Curious and willing to give it a shot, she signed up for the event and was fortunate to secure entry. The summit brought together numerous financial experts who shared their investment wisdom. But the person who left the deepest impression on Hemangini was Professor Manish Jain.
