XIAOMI INDIA is navigating a period of dynamic transformation, marked by the upcoming departure of President Muralikrishnan Bat the end of 2024. This shift comes amidst a series of leadership changes that began with the exit of former Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain in May 2021 and highlights the company's growing emphasis on cultivating homegrown talent. Jain, instrumental in establishing Xiaomi's dominance in the Indian market, relocated to the UAE to assume a global role in 2021. Following his departure, Alvin Tse, then General Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia, was announced as the new India head in June 2021. However, Tse's tenure transitioned to a global VP role in late 2022 with India remaining under his ambit. Though this also necessitated yet another leadership change for the Indian arm. Jain also left Xiaomi altogether in January 2023 to become CEO of AI company G42 for its India business.
Muralikrishnan B, who stepped up as President of Xiaomi India in early 2022 after Jain's exit, has played a crucial role in steering the company through a turbulent period.
He successfully navigated regulatory challenges, shifting consumer sentiments, and a fiercely competitive market, ensuring Xiaomi retained its strong position in the Indian tech landscape.
