THE GALAXY AI saga started on 14 January, when Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series with the S24 Ultra being its flagship proposition. The S24 Ultra was more than just a flagship. It was the best that Samsung had to offer in order to compete with some of the top guns of the smartphone industry.
Fast forward a few months and we have a similar product, only this time it is foldables. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 was unveiled on 10 July 2024 with people around the world hoping for a significant upgrade from the Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Yes, we received a slightly wider cover screen, we got a slimmer and lighter body, a new 12MP ultrawide camera and of course, Galaxy AI. You can throw in the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in the mix but that’s about it.
We still have the very visible crease, issues regarding durability and toughness, a thin cover screen that people can’t get used to and a camera that feels like a runner-up. This compels you to think – has Samsung dropped the ball in the foldable smartphone race?
