It spectacularly celebrates the rich culinary and drinking traditions of the 1920s, when European society reveled in glamour and elegance. When I visited Atlas 100 years later, I felt transported to the past in a structure nicknamed the "Batman building" because of its striking Gotham City art deco architecture. The edifice became instrumental in changing Singapore's historic Bugis neighborhood.
