Shaping a Sustainable FUTURE
Hotelier India|June 2024
To mark the occasion of World Environment Day this month, we find out how the hospitality industry is paving the way for a greener, healthier tomorrow...
Shaping a Sustainable FUTURE

The hospitality industry is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, primarily due to energy consumption, transportation and waste generation. As the world grapples with environmental concerns, the industry is embracing its role in promoting responsible consumption, conservation and social responsibility. The journey towards sustainable hospitality has challenges, but with innovative strategies, the sector can pave the way for a greener, more responsible future.

We ask industry leaders and experts to share solutions towards reducing their carbon footprint and making the world a better place for all of us to live in; significance of environment certifications and the roadmap to reach there; and more...

The hospitality industry's role in tackling global warming: The hospitality sector both, contributes to and is impacted by climate change, and therefore, has a responsibility to be part of the change that is needed to mitigate impact posed by climate change. The industry can significantly mitigate its environmental impact, enhance economic performance, meet evolving consumer expectations, and fulfill regulatory and corporate responsibilities by adopting and promoting sustainable practices.

According to an Accenture report, a 38% ROI can be achieved, if hotels undertake the decarbonization process in the next five years. These initiatives run parallel to the ever-increasing demand from eco-conscious consumers, with 83% of young travellers ready to pay more for sustainable choices.
