Aditya Roy Kapur's chiselled body and handsome visage has earned him the sex symbol tag but given a choice, he'd rather be known for his acting chops than being a himbo. From being a romantic hero, he's successfully turned into an action star. He's one of the fittest celebs around for sure, what with other stars asking him for tips and advice. He's carved an identity separate from his much celebrated elder brother, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur. While he loathes the rat race, he does aspire to be the best version of himself with every release and would like to dabble in as many genres as possible in order to hone his versatility. We caught up with the actor who made his debut on OTT with The Night Manager and recently played a double role in Gumraah.
YOU BEGAN YOUR CAREER IN ROMANTIC FILMS. YOU’VE SINCE MOVED ON TO ACTION AND THRILLER FILMS SUCH AS MALANG, RASHTRIYA KAVACH OM, AND NOW GUMRAAH. WAS IT A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO SWITCH GENRES?
It was indeed. I had a great time performing action in Malang. I also enjoy action and thriller films. I was a huge fan of murder mysteries. I felt I should make more films like these. Besides, it’s something that comes easy to me. I’ve been a fan of action flicks since I was a kid. This is incredibly exciting for an actor because you get to try new things. You don’t want to be a repeat performer as an actor. You should always seek roles that will push you. Gumraah was a wonderful film for me since I got to play two characters. It was both exciting and challenging.
WOULD YOU CONSIDER AASHIQUI 2 TO BE A WATERSHED MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER?
