And when it comes t o engagements and honeymoons, the world really is their oyster.

It was on the ultra-private Caribbean island of Calala – an unspoilt paradise fringed by white sand and palm trees and featuring only four thatched beachfront suites – that Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank sealed their love in 2018.

During their dreamy castaway vacation Jack popped the question against a dramatic backdrop of lakes and volcanoes on the mainland of Nicaragua, which is just a helicopter ride or 90-minute boat journey away.

Most recently, the couple escaped to Jamaica’s golden coastline, where they celebrated the New Year with their children August, three, and nine-month-old Ernest, and joined a group of friends including US influencer Hannah Bronfman and her husband Brendan Fallis.

Prince William chose a safari in Kenya to propose to Kate Middleton in 2010. Presenting her with his mother Diana, Princess of Wales’s engagement ring – a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire surrounded by diamonds – the romantic Prince asked Kate to marry him at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, which comprises ten exclusive lodges.

PERFECT FOR A PROPOSAL

“The African continent holds a very special place in my heart,” he said at a reception marking the UKAfrica Investment Summit in 2020. “It is the place my father took my brother and me shortly after our mother died. And when deciding where best to propose to Catherine, I could think of no more fitting place than Kenya to get down on one knee.”
