He studied alongside the Prince of Wales at Eton, has modelled for Prada and won an Academy Award for his role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
Now, in his latest role, quintessential English actor Eddie Redmayne takes on a cinema classic as he goes undercover to play a deadly assassin in the hotly awaited TV remake of The Day of the Jackal.
Eddie, 42, had to don a plethora of disguises for the spy thriller, based on the original big-screen smash, which starred Edward Fox and was adapted from the bestselling book by Frederick Forsyth.
It was worlds away from the Fantastic Beasts star’s London-based family life with his wife Hannah Bagshawe and their daughter Iris, eight, and son Luke, six.
The couple met at a charity fashion show put on by Hannah and her classmates while Eddie was a student at Eton College and she was at a nearby all-girls boarding school. The pair remained friends until they started dating in 2012, marrying in December 2014 at Babington House in Somerset.
Here, Eddie talks about playing the Jackal and the real-life spy skills he learned along the way.
