"Having them at the finish line was incredible," Spencer tells HELLO! as he relaxes in a hotel on the shores of the Dead Sea after completing the gruelling challenge. "I think about Vogue all the time when I run and the kids are always in the forefront of my mind and to have them at the end for a big cuddle and a kiss was all I needed."
The broadcaster and entrepreneur has earned a Guinness World Record for the most consecutive marathons run on sand after covering a total of 780 miles across Jordan's Wadi Rum desert - where daytime temperatures reached 44°C - while raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.
Meanwhile, his intense training regime-including running in a heat chamber set to 40°C and with 40% humidity as well as the two stone he lost on route, have transformed his appearance, resulting in a sculpted, honed and tanned physique.
TESTING CONDITIONS
Spencer, 36, says that he didn't fully appreciate what he was taking on when he decided to attempt the Great Desert Challenge, which saw him sleeping rough on a mat in the open air, without toilets or running water, and getting up at 2.45am each morning to avoid running during the hottest parts of the day.
