Navigating life on your own after an 18-year relationship would be hard for anyone, never mind it playing out in the public eye, but Martine McCutcheon is refusing to let the end of her marriage get her down.
The 48-year-old actress and singer announced her separation from husband Jack McManus in August. Martine – who first found fame in the 1990s playing Tiffany Raymond (later Mitchell) in EastEnders, before starring in hit 2003 Richard Curtis film Love Actually – explained in a statement that it had been his decision to call time on their marriage, but said she wanted to send him luck with his next chapter.
In a statement on Instagram, she wrote, “After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it’s best for us to separate after 18 years together and I accept his decision. We are both so very blessed and grateful for our beautiful, nine-year-old son Rafferty, whose happiness and welfare has always been and will continue to be our number one priority.”
Despite being dealt the heavy blow just two years after renewing their wedding vows, Martine seems ready to talk about her struggles in the wake of the split.
